Anyone who wants to publish,
and can, should publish.

Pulai is a community of practitioners, educators, and researchers across the world — sharing knowledge that deserves to be permanent, citable, and read.

Our name

The tree that carried
knowledge for centuries.

The Scholar Tree

"For two thousand years, monks and scholars across Asia carved their manuscripts into the bark of the Pulai tree. It was the material that knowledge was written on before paper existed."

We named ourselves after it deliberately. The Scholar Tree didn't choose who could write on it. It held the knowledge of anyone who had something worth saying.

That is still the only qualification we ask for.

Who publishes with Pulai

Knowledge doesn't only live
in universities.

The most important observations are made in the field, the classroom, the factory floor, and the community. Pulai exists to give that knowledge the same permanence as any academic journal.

Educators

Teachers and faculty whose classroom research deserves a permanent record beyond a hard drive.

Field researchers

Practitioners whose observations, surveys, and datasets were collected in real conditions.

Industry practitioners

Professionals with domain expertise and applied knowledge that rarely makes it into formal literature.

Community researchers

NGOs, social enterprises, and community organisations whose work creates knowledge worth sharing.

Our journals

Two journals open
for submission.

Both journals share a common editorial board and publish four content types — technical papers, practitioner perspectives, and industry intelligence. Papers go through peer review. Perspectives and intelligence are reviewed by the editorial board directly.

Open for submissions

Pulai for Schools

Research and knowledge created by students — from applied science projects to social studies, humanities, and interdisciplinary inquiry. Designed for secondary schools, junior colleges, and polytechnics.

Editorial board — both journals

Both journals share a common editorial board — practitioners, academics, and industry specialists who review submissions, assign peer reviewers, and make publication decisions. The board brings together expertise across education, applied research, business, and social enterprise.

How it works

From submission to
permanent record.

We have built a full editorial pipeline — submission, peer review, decision, publication. Your work is tracked at every stage.

1

Teacher or faculty submits

A teacher or university faculty member submits on behalf of their student/s. By submitting, they confirm they have read the work, made a first-round edit, and endorse it as ready for editorial review. A submission fee of US$20 / SGD$25 applies.

2

Endorser acts as primary editor

An email is sent to the submitting teacher or faculty confirming receipt and their role as primary editor. They may be contacted by the Pulai editorial team before the submission progresses to peer review.

3

Pulai editorial review

Our editorial team assesses the submission within 5 business days. Research papers go to peer review. Perspectives and project reports are reviewed by the editorial board directly.

4

Peer review

Two reviewers from our panel assess the paper anonymously. Structured feedback is provided — accept, revise, or decline — with full comments. The submitting teacher and student/s both receive updates throughout.

5

Publication

Accepted work is published with a DOI, permanently indexed, and available to subscribers. The students own their work. Pulai holds the record.

A submission fee of US$20 / SGD$25 applies to all submissions. This covers editorial processing and peer review coordination — it is not an Article Processing Charge. Paying the fee does not guarantee acceptance. We believe no knowledge should go unread because of cost.

"A world where no knowledge is out of reach — where the field researcher in Aceh, the teacher in Manila, and the practitioner in Johor all have the same right to be read as anyone at a university."

Pulai is named after the Scholar Tree. We are building what comes next.
